Sunny Heights Drive Residence
Owned by a tech executive and a shoe designer with a five-year-old in tow, this mid-century modern Mt. Washington residence was due for a reinvention. Our design concept for this hillside home explores the intersection between the Modernist mantra of Mies van der Rohe and the lively love of showmanship inspired by chef personality Molly Baz. The kitchen island is designed to be a stage oriented towards the home’s entertaining and living quarters, fitted with exciting, eye-catching terrazzo flooring. New windows and skylights are implemented throughout the house to allow more light into the open floor plan. Sculptural millwork elements, including custom cabinetry, columns, clerestory windows, white oak flooring, and mid-century modern handrail details promote a discerning "less is more" elegance in the three-level, two-story house.
