Description

Inside Nehima, visitors will find a respite from the energetic buzz of the vibrant Los Feliz neighborhood in Los Angeles. This private teahouse exudes a measured elegance with hand-crafted, bespoke details like clean plaster walls featuring seamless dimensional wood trim and paneling. The shop owner imagined a space that fit into the canon of Japanese tradition–a rare, contemplative space where visitors can sit, steep, and linger. Archetypal details, like these Shaker-style chairs, add to the air of antiquity in the room, illuminated by natural daylight from a series of brand new skylights. Aesthetics aside, this teahouse came with more advanced technical requirements, like the intricate water filter and water heating system needed for high-caliber tea service, and critical details added to the kitchen and bathroom to complete the transformation of this standard commercial space into a fully-permitted, novel escape.
